AN Inverness firm has has taken delivery of the first two Volvo EW60E compact wheeled excavators to be sold in Britain.

Supplied by CS Machinery Sales, Campbell Plant Hire has chosen the machine that was unveiled at  Bauma this year and which Volvo said heralds a return to the compact wheeled excavator market for the manufacturer following a twelve year absence.

Volvo said Campbell Plant Hire has “long awaited” the introduction of this new 6 tonne wheeled machine.

“We are very pleased that Volvo has introduced this wheeled machine into their line-up as it plugs a specific gap in the hire market which has been been missing here in the north of Scotland,” said managing director Alan Campbell.

“The EW60E is well specified and as with all Volvo compact excavators it’s a robust and well-built machine.

“We believe it will become a very popular machine with the local utility and building companies.”

Equipped with a Volvo Stage IIIB engine delivering 61 nett hp and adjustable hydraulic flow, Volvo said the EW60E features a “well-balanced driveline for optimum performance” whether working on site or on the move.

The machine has a 2.9m boom and 1.6m dipper arm. Maximum forward reach is 5.81m, maximum dig depth is 3.29m and practical load over height is 4.44m.
