SWEDISH-headquartered plant equipment supplier, Quality Construction Equipment (QCE), is set to expand its reach in the UK.

The firm, which specialises in SMP products including tiltrotators, buckets and quick couplers, is seeking a partner to service the Central Belt in Scotland as well as preparing to open a new hub south of the border.

The firm’s new base will be located in Cannock, near Birmingham, and is set to open by the end of the year. The hub will stock spare parts and complete units with staff performing installations and repairs along with site call outs.

“We’re right in the middle of the country and the reason for that would be for logistics, so we can access all parts of the UK,” managing director and owner, Daniel Sjödin, told Project Plant.

“We’re doing preparations for storage, spare parts (and) also a little bit of assembling, which is going to be for the market’s advantage because we’re going to come down in lead time seriously, where we will have units in stock and different tops and different hitches, so we, on relatively short notice, can get the unit ready for the majority of the machines available on the market.”

Daniel explained that the firm’s strategy going forward is to be “more present” in the UK, with more locations and a staff of “educated, trained people who know the market”.

He added, “I’m very excited about it and I’ve seen that we’ve expanded and the growth is according to our budget and our plans, so we’re happy with the progress we’ve made so far.

“We’re happy with the way the market has welcomed us.”
