GORDON Cameron has resigned from his role as managing director at Hardox Wearparts Stirling.

Owners SSAB said they had accepted his resignation “with regret”, adding that he had been “instrumental” in successfully implementing key changes over the past two years.

SSAB stated that there will be a “transitional period” until a new MD is appointment with a planned date of January 2017 following a “complete study” of the operations, commercial practices and market potential.

Paul Cartwright, who is MD for SSAB Swedish Steel Ltd, will be the interim MD.

Gordon Cameron said he had “thoroughly enjoyed” his two-and-a-half year stint at Hardox. “I will really miss this job and my role here but an opportunity came up for me that was right for my career at this time and was too big not to pursue,” he explained. “For me to give this up was a big decision, but the move is right for me and will challenge me in a different way over the coming years.”
