Jarvie targets expansion both north and south of the border

Ian Hutchison

JARVIE Plant has set its sights on further expansion in 2017 with the Grangemouth-based hire firm poised to open its first depot in England and a ninth Scottish base.

A facility in Manchester will open during Q1 2017, with the firm set to recruit a major accounts manager in an effort to lure hire spend from across the UK.

The growth strategy will be led by Ian Hutchison, who has returned to Jarvie as sales director following a 10-year absence. He first joined the business in 1989 in a workshop role.

“It feels like coming home to some extent and to be presented with the prospect of leading the business into England and strengthening our sales strategy is a challenge I am relishing,” he said. “Manchester is a really exciting prospect as it opens up a huge geographical area and a wealth of opportunities. The new major account manager will play a vital role in securing key business wins.”

A new depot is also planned for Nairn in northern Scotland, following on from new premises being unveiled last year in Aberdeen and Dundee.

“We are looking to build on our already strong foundations in Scotland’s north-east and further invest in a full compliment of depot staff covering operation and sales,” Hutchison added.
