VOLVO Construction Equipment has reported a 10% rise in net sales in Q2 2019, following ‘improvements’ in the European and North American markets.

The manufacturer also cited a ‘strong focus’ on its service business, ‘volume flexibility’ in the industrial system and ‘tight cost control’.

Net sales amounted to SEK 26,814 M. Operating income also rose to 4,153 M in the period, up from 3,675 M over the same period last year, equating to an operating margin of 15.5%.

Volvo added that the second quarter also saw order intake increase by 6%. Order intake was said to be ‘particularly strong’ in China, up 21% driven by strong demand for SDLG branded excavators and wheel loaders.

Melker Jernberg, president of Volvo CE said, “Volvo CE continued on the path of increased sales and improved profitability in the second quarter. Volume flexibility in the industrial system and tight cost control will continue to be in focus in the second half of the year.”
