Atlas Copco introduces Stage V mobile generators

ATLAS Copco has launched four new models to its QAS 5 range of mobile diesel generators.

The addition of the EU Stage V compliant QAS 5 250, 325, 450 and 660 models means there are now nine generators in the range, which the manufacturer said provides fast ‘plug and play’ power from 80 to 200 kVA on Stage 3A, and from 250 to 660 kVA on Stage V.

“The new generators are a welcome addition to the QAS 5 range, and have been developed in response to customer demand for larger power capacity, but with a more sustainable operation that meets legislation,” explained Sergio Salvador, product marketing manager (small & medium power generators at Atlas Copco). “The QAS 5 generators are proven as reliable in demanding industrial environments and are enabling customers to improve plant performance.”

Atlas Copco added that the QAS 5 generators are designed to be ‘especially silent’ in operation, with noise levels as low as 85 dBA. This quiet performance is due to technologies including variable speed drive (VSD) air cooling, silencers and an isolated compartment for the power pack.

The generators can be powered up within five seconds. Operators connect the generators for electrical power and the gensets are equipped with up to eight sockets, a terminal board and optional power locks.

The generators can be paralleled with each other to form a mobile or independent power plant in just 55 seconds, thanks to a Power Management System (PMS). The PMS eliminates the need for generators to run with low load levels, which can cause engine damage and shorten equipment life expectancy.
